What’s Up Byron?
With Spring just around the corner, things are beginning to heat up in Byron Bay. The air and water temperatures are on the rise and the beach days are getting little longer with each day. The summer crowds haven’t hit just yet making the shoulder season the opportune time to visit the bay and experience all there is to offer.
Here are our top picks for September:
Sample Food Festival
With spring is in the air, one of our favourite ways to celebrate is to sample a taste of Byron Bay! And by this we mean, tasting the fresh, seasonal produce at the annual Sample Food Festival. This year, the eagerly anticipated event takes place on Saturday 7th of September in the stunning Bangalow show grounds so make sure to pencil it in!
Whale Watching Picnic
Pack a picnic and witness the amazing whale migration from the most easterly point of mainland Australia. Be amazed by the breathtaking panoramas of the entire Bay. With 360 views, you’ll have a hard time missing the whales breach as they make their journey past.
Go For A Wave
With the sea temperatures gradually getting warmer and warmer, it’s time to ditch the wettie and hit the surf. Out the front of East On Byron is the stunning Belongil Beach which gets consistent swell all year around. You might even be lucky enough to be greeted by some friendly, local dolphins!
Browse the Byron Markets
The Community Markets take place all around the Byron Shire every Saturday and Sunday. Expect hundreds of stalls showcasing unique, artisanal products such as ceramics, art, and woodwork – the perfect souvenir. Stock up on fresh produce from local farmers and grab a coffee and a pastry while you browse.

East On Byron is all about location, location, location!
“Being able to stumble across the road onto Belongil Beach made our stay. Clean and tidy apartment with a private entrance made it relaxing and secluded. Cafes so close for great coffee, breakfast and dinner.”Carmen, Bangalow NSW

Our prime location is always a major talking point and it truely is world class. The pristine waters of Belongil Beach can be heard lapping across the white sands just metres away from our property. Drift off to the waves crashing and arise to a surround sound of tropical calm.
“The proximity to beach was perfect, just walk back barefoot to your apartment when you get hungry, then head back over! We could also still walk into town if you wanted but it was out of the hustle and bustle of the town, it had great cafe out front so you could grab a morning coffee and sit by the pool while the children swam; great spacious living area so the whole family could chill in the air conditioning after a long day at the beach without crowding each other. This is the second time we have been and plan to go back again for sure!”Jen, Hobart, TAS
