What’s Up Byron?

Sample A Taste Of Byron Bay – Sample Food Fest 2019
August 23, 2019 by Gemma Dennison
Sample Food Festival Bangalow 2019

Spring is in the air and one of our favourite ways to celebrate is to sample a taste of Byron Bay! And by this we mean, tasting the fresh, seasonal produce at the annual Sample Food Festival. This year, the eagerly anticipated event takes place on Saturday 7th of September in the stunning Bangalow show grounds so make sure to pencil it in!

Foodies, chefs, artisans, locals and travellers all congregate each year under the shade of the lush, camphor laurel trees that adorn the area. It’s a fantastic chance to sample a slice of Byron Bay and the Northern Rivers region which is home to a plethora of unique flavours and botanicals offering up a smorgasbord for food lovers.

A premier event on the foodie calendar, Sample highlights local farmers and growers, artisan producers, chefs, restauranteurs and brewers to create an unforgettable fusion for all the senses. The festival showcases the top restaurants in the area who compete for the coveted “Gold Fork” awards and collaborate on a special luncheon. Pop up stalls will be serving up yummy $5 and $10 tasting plates. Quench your thirst with local brewers and distillers such as Stone & Wood, Brookie’s Gin, and Husk Distillers.

It’s not all food trucks either! There’ll also be market stalls selling local handcrafted products such as the wonderfully unique Eco Food Boards, masterclasses from guest chefs including Matt Moran and Federico Zanellato, not to mention live music and kids’ activities happening throughout the day.

Entry to the festival is $5 per person and kids are free. Free Parking all day onsite. Visit www.samplefoodevents.com for more information and to purchase tickets for the Sample workshops leading up to the festival.

Belongil Beach Byron Bay

Salty Stays in Byron Bay

East On Byron is all about location, location, location!

“Being able to stumble across the road onto Belongil Beach made our stay. Clean and tidy apartment with a private entrance made it relaxing and secluded. Cafes so close for great coffee, breakfast and dinner.”

Carmen, Bangalow NSW

We love receiving Tripadvisor reviews from our guests about their stay. Their amazing feedback helps us to make sure things are running smoothly around the resort and that guests are happy and content on their holiday.

Our prime location is always a major talking point and it truely is world class. The pristine waters of Belongil Beach can be heard lapping across the white sands just metres away from our property. Drift off to the waves crashing and arise to a surround sound of tropical calm.

“The proximity to beach was perfect, just walk back barefoot to your apartment when you get hungry, then head back over! We could also still walk into town if you wanted but it was out of the hustle and bustle of the town, it had great cafe out front so you could grab a morning coffee and sit by the pool while the children swam; great spacious living area so the whole family could chill in the air conditioning after a long day at the beach without crowding each other. This is the second time we have been and plan to go back again for sure!”

Jen, Hobart, TAS

If it’s a laid back, cruisy vibe you’re after then look no further than Belongil Beach. Salty solitude right on your doorstep, a hop and a skip across the road to the beach all while being within easy walking distance to the hustle and bustle of vibrant, Byron Bay.

East On Byron welcomes you on your romantic escape, trip away with friends or family getaway with the kids in tow. There’s heaps of accommodation options to suit your needs – from relaxed beach houses, to poolside villas and luxe penthouses. Each have their own unique style, all effortlessly cool and calm, reflecting the coastal oasis that encompass them.

A day in the life at our beachside sanctuary would go something like this…wake up slow to the sound of the ocean, stroll down to The Belongil café for your caffeine fix, have a spot of brekky. Meander across the road and check the surf at Belongil Beach. Go for a dip in the sea or in our billabong pool. Fire up the grill on your private decking area for lunch, relax and read a book on one of our sun loungers for a lazy afternoon or get involved in the many activities the region has to offer. Catch the stunning Byron sunset before grabbing a bite to eat at the Treehouse on Belongil for dinner or wander into town for cocktails and cuisine.

Wake up the next morning and do it all over again! Sound tempting? We bet you’re hooked! The best time to book your stay is now so what are you waiting for? We’re here ready to welcome you to our slice of paradise in the breathtaking Northern Rivers of NSW.
