There are heaps of special events and festivals happening every weekend for the locals to enjoy. The low season has a calmer vibe and the community relishes in the chance to epitomise the region’s motto “Cheer Up, Slow Down, Chill Out“.

One of our favourite winter festivals is the annual Lismore Lantern Parade. This year, the parade is set to take place on Saturday, 22nd of June 2019. The vibrant event is put together to celebrate the longest day of the year; the Winter Solstice.

The festival kicks off at noon with a unique art and craft market, street food vans, children’s activities, workshops, lantern decorating and a festival stage featuring local musicians and dancers. Around sunset, beautiful illuminated puppets in the Lismore Library tell the story for the year and the Lantern Parade dances through the streets of Lismore culminating with a fiery finale and fireworks display. The event continues on into the late hours with music, dance and performance.
