How to Spend Two Days in Byron Bay

Belongil Beach, Byron Bay

Here’s how to make the most of two days in Byron Bay and enjoy every last sun-drenched minute of your stay at East On Byron resort.

Luckily for you, our beachside at Belongil resort is located in the heart of the Byron shire with the best that the region has to offer at your fingertips.

So, what to do?

After you’ve checked into your oceanside oasis, it’s time to get out and experience the best the region has to offer.

Fuel your day with a scrumptious brekky from our friendly neighbours at the Belongil Cafe.

Lighthouse Walk & Picnic at Wategos Beach

Explore one of the most spectacular coastal walks in the country running from Clarkes beach to Cape Byron Lighthousethe most easterly headland point in Australia. Take in the surfers at iconic right-hand break ‘The Pass’ and spot dolphins, turtles and even humpback whales (May-November) from Wategos Beach.

Once at the top, be amazed by the breathtaking panoramas of the entire Bay. On your way back down the path, take a dip to cool off in the stunning, turquoise waters at Wategos Beach and fire up one of the public barbecues for a spot of lunch or come prepared with a picnic.

Wander around town

Spend the afternoon browsing the many beautiful boutiques and quirky stores around town showcasing products from the many designers and artisans local to the area. Worth checking out are Marr-Kett, The Book Room, Sea Bones, Byron Music and Hope & May.

After you’ve shopped till you’ve dropped, wash off the day with a swim at Belongil Beach, a stones throw from our beachside resort before freshening up for a night out on the town.

After Dark

Enjoy a sunset drink with sea views at The Beach Hotel or sip on a cocktail and tuck into some freshly shucked oysters while you people watch at The Balcony Bar (Happy Hour 4-6pm). Meander onto Bay Lane for some delicious dinner options, we recommend il Buco for authentic Italian pizza, Thai Lucy and Byron Fresh. If you want to continue on to the small hours, our top late night venues include The Rails, The Northern (great for live music, see gig listings here) and The Bolt Hole.

East On Byron Billabong Pool

Wake up with a splash in our stunning billabong pool. Then head north to The Farm Byron Bay and start your day in the great outdoors. Stroll around with a coffee and meet the farm animals, dine alfresco at Three Blue Ducks or grab a freshly baked pastry from local favourites The Bread Social to enjoy on the grass.

Killen Falls

Just a short drive from Byron Bay, Killen Falls is the most accessible waterfall to our Belongil resort. This hidden gem is located on Killen Falls Drive, Tintenbar amongst the rolling hinterland of the Ballina Shire. The beautiful falls cascade down into a stunning rainforest waterhole. This is the perfect spot to cool down and take a dip on a hot day especially if you only have an hour or so to spare.

Lunch at Harvest Cafe

Harvest Newrybar

The delightful little village of Newrybar is one of our favourite out of town spots to escape the hustle and bustle. Treat yourself to a leisurely brunch at Harvest Cafe and browse through the beautiful goods and wares crafted by local artisans at Newyrbar Merchants. Hinterland bliss!

After Dark

Catch the sunset with a barefoot beach stroll before heading to the Treehouse on Belongil for dinner. Located right next door to our accommodation; The Treehouse has a funky, lively atmosphere with a full menu offering wood fired pizzas, share platters and daily specials along with a licensed bar. Experience the incredible sounds of local songwriters and musicians from Thursday to Sunday.

Turn in and rest easy in our airy beachside apartments. Complimentary sea breeze and soothing ocean sounds included.
