With Spring just around the corner, things are beginning to heat up in Byron Bay. The air and water temperatures are on the rise and the beach days are getting little longer with each day. The summer crowds haven’t hit just yet making the shoulder season the opportune time to visit the bay and experience all there is to offer.
Here are our top picks for September:
Sample Food Festival
With spring is in the air, one of our favourite ways to celebrate is to sample a taste of Byron Bay! And by this we mean, tasting the fresh, seasonal produce at the annual Sample Food Festival. This year, the eagerly anticipated event takes place on Saturday 7th of September in the stunning Bangalow show grounds so make sure to pencil it in!
Whale Watching Picnic
Pack a picnic and witness the amazing whale migration from the most easterly point of mainland Australia. Be amazed by the breathtaking panoramas of the entire Bay. With 360 views, you’ll have a hard time missing the whales breach as they make their journey past.
Go For A Wave
With the sea temperatures gradually getting warmer and warmer, it’s time to ditch the wettie and hit the surf. Out the front of East On Byron is the stunning Belongil Beach which gets consistent swell all year around. You might even be lucky enough to be greeted by some friendly, local dolphins!
